William Ralph “Dub” Bennett, Jr.

William Ralph “Dub” Bennett, Jr., 73, of Graham, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2026. He was born on January 15, 1953, and was raised in Bassett, Virginia, where he graduated from Bassett High School.

From an early age, Dub had a natural curiosity about how things worked. That curiosity grew into a lifelong passion for construction, mechanics, and building things with his own hands. He was a talented and resourceful man who could often be found working on a project, whether building a home, working on automobiles, or putting together go-karts with his son, Cale.

Dub devoted 34 years of his career to serving the same Virginia community where he was raised, working for the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Building Code Inspector. His knowledge of construction and dedication to his work reflected the practical skills and strong work ethic that defined much of his life.

In addition to his career, Dub was the proud owner and operator of a successful auto body shop located at his home in Virginia. His love of automobiles and craftsmanship allowed him to turn his talents and interests into a business that he took great pride in.

In the spring of 2023, Dub moved to North Carolina to be closer to his family.

Dub is survived by his beloved son, Cale Bennett (Wendy Wojcik Bennett); granddaughter, Addison J. Bennett; brother, William Phillip Bennett (Betty Truelove); sister, Cherie Shelor; and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Ralph Bennett, Sr and Vivian Flippin Bennett, and his sister, Pamela Bennett.

Dub will be remembered for his curiosity, ingenuity, hardworking nature, and his ability to build, fix, and create. 

A celebration of Dub’s life will be held at a later date. Details will be announced by the family.
