Funeral, Burial, and Cremation Options for Cary Families

Every family's situation is different. Some want a traditional funeral with family and friends present. Others want something simpler or more private.

City of Oaks Funeral Home and Cremations offers several options, and if you are not sure which one fits your family, we will walk through them with you.

Immediate Burial

Immediate burial is a direct, dignified burial without a formal ceremony beforehand. Your loved one is brought into our care, prepared and casketed by our staff, and transported to the cemetery for burial.

Some families choose immediate burial because their loved one preferred simplicity or because they plan to gather or hold a memorial at another time. Cemetery charges are separate from the funeral home's charges.

Green Burial

Green burial allows your loved one to return to the earth naturally without embalming chemicals, a metal casket, or a concrete burial vault.

Families choose this option for different reasons. Some are guided by environmental values, while others find comfort in the simplicity of the process. City of Oaks Funeral Home and Cremations is recognized by the Green Burial Council and follows its standards for this practice.

Traditional Funeral

A traditional funeral gives family and friends an opportunity to gather, spend time together, and say goodbye. It can include visitation, a formal funeral ceremony, and burial.

We help your family coordinate the details and shape the service around your needs, values, and the way you want to remember your loved one.

Direct Cremation

Direct cremation is a complete cremation service without a formal viewing or gathering beforehand.

Your loved one remains in our care throughout the process. Cremation takes place in our own facility and is performed by our own staff. Choosing a simpler service does not mean receiving less care, dignity, or attention.

Cremation with Private Family Viewing

This option gives up to 10 immediate family members or close friends one private hour with their loved one before cremation.

It can be a good fit for families who do not want a public visitation but still want quiet time together. Your loved one is cared for by our staff, and cremation takes place in the same facility afterward.

Cremation with Visitation

For families who want friends and relatives to gather before cremation, this option includes a visitation in our chapel.

It provides time to be together, receive support, and say goodbye before cremation takes place.

Alkaline Hydrolysis

Alkaline hydrolysis is a water-based alternative to flame cremation. It uses water and potassium hydroxide to facilitate natural decomposition and produces remains that can be kept, scattered, or memorialized.

Unlike our cremation services, alkaline hydrolysis is performed through a licensed partner facility that City of Oaks Funeral Home and Cremations has worked with for years. We are upfront with families about that from the beginning.

Solidified Remains

Solidified remains offer another way for a family to receive their loved one's cremated remains. The remains are transformed into stones that family members can hold, share, keep, or use as part of a memorial.

If this is something your family is considering, we can explain how it works and help you decide whether it feels right for you.
