Yvonne Smith Dovell was born on October 24, 1939, to the late Wayne Smith Sr. and Lillian Hardee. She was proceeded in death of her siblings, Wayne Smith Jr., Bob Smith, and Jeannette Smith.

Michael Stephen "Steve" Jones, age 77, of Selma, North Carolina, passed away peacefully in his home on September 28, 2026. Born in Anderson, South Carolina, Steve earned an Associate in Applied Science degree in Engineering Technology. He proudly retired from the military after more than 29 years of combined service in the Navy, Army, and Army Reserve, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant and earning multiple decorations, medals, and badges. Rooted in deep faith, Steve devoted many years of service to West Clayton Church of God in Clayton, NC, where he faithfully served as both a Sunday School teacher and Superintendent. In his final two years, he enjoyed fellowship and worship at Full Throttle Biker Church in Pleasant Garden, NC. Steve had a passion for music, played the drums, and curated a vast collection of records and cassette tapes. He was also an avid NASCAR fan with a lifelong admiration for Richard Petty. Above all, Steve never met a stranger and left a lasting impression on everyone he spoke with. He will be remembered for his generous spirit and for always being ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He is survived by his loving wife, Laura Jones; his children, Steven Jones (Bonnie Gillespie), Christopher Jones (Allison Ingle), Jennifer (Russell) Brown, and; and his stepchildren, Ken (Dana) Sapic and Connie (David) Reid, siblings,Tina Lucas (Tommy), Sherry Crawford, and Kevin Jones (Wendy); as well as 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Betty Jones. Services will be held on Friday, October 9, 2026, at West Clayton Church of God Visitation: 10:00 AM Funeral Service: 11:00 AM Military Honors: To immediately follow the service outside on the church grounds. *A private burial ceremony will take place at M.J.
